About
I’ve lived in Vientiane since early 2000 and have been based in Asia since 93, including time in Seoul, Hanoi and Hong Kong. Asia has long been a source of inspiration – photographically, and, well, I was going to say spiritually but that doesn’t seem to hold as true today as it seemed when I first started traveling in the region in the early 70s. Hard to find much that’s spiritual in a shopping mall! Photographically I tend to focus on longer term projects and other whimsical self assigned concepts that I sometimes manage to exhibit such as in my two shows at the French Centre in Vientiane in August 04 and October 07. I’ve also exhibited previously in Seoul, Bangkok and Vancouver. These days I work mostly with medium format cameras including the Holga.

Haven’t had much luck finding any previous posts on this, no doubt, perenial issue. Anyway I have a slow connection.
So, you have what you think is a great body of work for a photo book. What do you do? 1/ Try to contact publishers directly with a sample CD and synopsis? 2/ Enter, at some expense and effort – and extremely low odds of success – the Euro Publishers annual award and hope what you have is better than the other 10,000 entries and most of Magnum’s members? or 3/ look for an agent to squeeze you through the door?
Having tried 1/and 2/ to no avail does anyone have the scoop on number 3/ – the agent? How and where does one find such a species let alone go about impressing them with your work? Any insights would be welcome, otherwise I just have to hope the whole of Magnum doesn’t enter the Euro Award next year!
