Traveling through Heathrow

I have to fly from Belfast(Aer Lingus) to Heathrow (BA) then onto LAX. Just wondering when I come back to Belfast if I will have to carry my bags through Heathrow or will they just meet me back in Belfast? A friend said he had to carry his through a couple of months ago; not sure if it was part of the whole T-5 fiasco or not.
